Answers

  1. Q: I am interested in the history of my parish or I want to find out about my house, how do I find about archaeological sites and historic buildings?
    A:
    We can provide you with a search for all known archaeological sites in your parish from the Historic Environment Record or information on historic buildings.  The search will give you a list of sites and buildings and a map showing their location. Contact the Historic Environment Record.

  2. Q: I am a student interested in researching a particular historic period can you provide any information or resources?
    A:
    Yes, we can provide a search for you for any period or type of site that you are interested in and we hold a wide range of resources. Contact the Historic Environment Record.

  3. Q: I have put in a planning application and I have to carry out an archaeological survey what do I do now?
    A:
    You need to contact our Historic Environment Planning Officer who will guide you through the process. 

  4. Q: I am a farmer interested in entering into a High Level Stewardship Scheme with Natural England and I think I might have archaeology or historic buildings on my land.  Who do I talk to?
    A: We have a specialist team headed by our Historic Environment Countryside Advisor and we would be happy to answer your queries on both archaeology and historic buildings.

  5. Q: I am a teacher do you provide activities for school children and educational resources?
    A:
    Yes we provide a whole range of activities and educational resources.  See our Education and Outreach section for details.

  6. Q: My child is interested in archaeology, is there a branch of the Young Archaeologists Club for Worcestershire?
    A:
    Yes, the Worcestershire Young Archaeologists' Club for 8 to 16 year olds, can be contacted through their website:  http://www.wyac.co.uk/

  7. Q: I am interested in archaeology and would like to volunteer for the Service, do you have any volunteer opportunities?
    A:
    Yes, we have a team of volunteers to wash and mark the finds that come in from our excavations. Occasionally we have opportunities to carry out research for the Historic Environment Record through projects such as our Historic Buildings project.
