Learning and Outreach
Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service carry out a wide
range of learning and outreach activities, involving over 6,000
people per year. Participants range from 5 year old children
through to retired people, both formal and informal learners,
academics and those who had previously never heard of archives or
archaeology. Activities we organise include:
Local history research groups
- Community excavations
- Talks
- Workshops
- Tours
- School activities
- Archive film screenings
- Family history fairs
- Walkpast
Through these opportunities we can help you to discover more
about your local area, your family history, or any subject which
our resources could help you with. As well as providing you with an
opportunity to find out something new we try to make our events fun
and enjoyable.
Historical documents and artefacts can be used with groups
to inspire them about their town or village, help them to learn new
skills, and can form the basis of exciting community projects. If
you would like us to work with you on a project we love to discuss
it with you.
Our location at The Hive provides us with great opportunities to
include even more people in our activities through the extra spaces
provided by the meeting rooms and through working with our partner
services within the building.
We have a programme of events for
2013 (PDF 479 KB) . Please let us know if you like to be
added to our mailing list. You can also keep up date with our
activities by checking our blog. If
you have any questions for our outreach team or if you would like
to be kept up-to-date with our planned events and activities you
can email us at explorethepast@worcestershire.gov.uk
