Warmer Worcestershire Network helps communities stay
warm
As the weather takes a turn for the cold, the
Warmer Worcestershire Network is supporting Worcestershire
communities to keep warm and well.
The Warmer Worcestershire Network is made up
of public and voluntary sector organisations including
Worcestershire County Council, public health, district councils,
Age UK, Act on Energy and Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire and
Rescue Service.
The Warmer Worcestershire Network is
developing a range of projects, with the help of funding from
Department of Health, to support Worcestershire residents during
colder weather.
Projects include:
- Training
for front line staff to spot the signs of fuel poverty and to make
referrals.
-
Residents receiving support services in the home through the public
or voluntary sector will have the option to be referred for further
energy advice and support to help keep their home warm and keep the
bills down.
-
Temporary emergency heaters for vulnerable members of the community
receiving services in the home if heating systems fail.
- Free
energy advice phone line including home visits delivered by Act on
Energy, the local energy charity.
-
Telephone alert system for vulnerable residents when cold weather
is forecast
- Free
cavity wall and loft insulation for residents over the age of 60
years old until the end of 2012 while funding lasts (funding
provided by Worcestershire County Council)
-
Increased turn around time for benefit checks through Age UK
- Extend
existing home from hospital services offered by the British Red
Cross
The overall aim is to keep individuals warm
and well during the winter months. Heating your home
correctly can have added health benefits
