North Worcestershire Path

North Worcestershire Path

Crossing the north of the County, the North Worcestershire Path is surprisingly diverse.  The walk will allow you to discover ancient royal hunting grounds, sites of special scientific interest, dense woodlands, a river valley, reservoirs and farmland, with fantastic views across the contrasting landscapes of the Birmingham Plateau and the Black Country in the north, to the rural beauty of the Worcestershire countryside in the south.

North Worcestershire has often been referred to as the lungs of the West Midlands.  From the mid 18th Century onwards years of industrial growth and increasing urbanisation changed the character of the working landscape. North Worcestershire though an important manufacturing centre managed to retain its agricultural heritage and nowhere can this be seen more clearly than on this trail.

Waseley Hills

Starting in Bewdley you get the chance to explore the valley of the River Severn, Britain's longest river and once the main transport network inland from the sea at Bristol.  Walking through dense woodland you get a real feel for the historical character of the landscape. After visiting Kingsford Forest Park, managed by Worcestershire County Council the land use starts to change as the dense forests give way to arable land.

On over the Clent Hills, where on a clear day the panorama opens up and you will be treated to views over the Cotswolds, Shropshire Hills and Welsh borders.

After Clent you will come to The Waseley Hills Country Park, another site managed by Worcestershire County Council, this one with Car Park, Café and Toilets.

The next stop is The Lickey Hills, owned and managed by Birmingham City Council, offering facilities to the visitor and just a stones throw away from the Bittell Reservoirs.

The North Worcestershire Path continues through Forhill Picnic Place and onto its termination at the County boundary at Majors Green.
