Cycle Parking

Cycle parking is provided across Worcestershire, making it easier to get around by bike. There are four main types of cycle parking available:

Sheffield Stands

These are the most popular form of cycle parking and consist of a piece of steel that is attached to the ground in an upside down U shape. The advantage of the Sheffield Stand is that you can attach both wheels and the frame to the stand.

Butterfly Stands

These stands are often attached to walls and consist of a clip to which the front wheel of the bike can be secured. Unlike the Sheffield Stands, the frame is not secured so cyclists are advised to use a Sheffield Stand if a choice is available.

Cycle Lockers

The most secure way to leave your bike if you are going to be away for more than a few hours. Lockers are currently available at Great Malvern, Bromsgrove, Pershore and Evesham train stations. Contact staff in the ticket offices at these stations if you are interested in using one of the lockers.

Cycle parking facilities are marked on all cycling maps produced by the county council.

Bike Station (Cycle Storage)

Secure bicycle storage is available at Bricycles premises in Malvern Link, close to Malvern Link Rail Station.

Bicycles can be left at the premises where they will be kept securely locked and protected by insurance cover. Rates are available for daily, weekly or monthly storage and comprehensive servicing is also available whilst bicycles are left.

Please visit http://www.bricycles.co.uk/ for more information or telephone 01684 577238.

Cycle Hoops

Cycle hoops are an innovative cycle parking solution that retrofits a secure hoop onto existing street furniture such as bollards, lamp columns and railings to create bespoke cycle parking.

Cycling Parking spotsCycle Parking Grants

As part of our commitment to work with local partners to encourage cycling, Worcestershire County Council are currently providing grants in the form of free Sheffield Cycle stands to employers, businesses and schools within Worcestershire.

The stands are ideal for organisations that want to encourage and promote cycling as a suitable form of transport for reaching their premises. We provide stainless steel, concrete-in Sheffield type cycle stands, as shown in the photo below.

Companies successful in obtaining stands must agree to the collection, installation, maintenance and monitoring of usage.

For more information on this initiative please email us at scheme@worcestershire.gov.uk or call us on 01905 766148.
