Early Intervention and Targeted Support (EITS)
The Early Intervention and Targeted Support
Service provides the bridge between universal services (schools,
Early Years settings, FE Colleges) and specialist provision
(social care, specialist Health services, Special schools).
The focus is on raising achievement of
vulnerable learners through reducing barriers to learning; and
reducing referrals to specialist services.
The EITS Service delivers statutory LA
responsibilities for assessment and placement of learners with
Special Educational Needs and post 16 Learners with Learning
Difficulties and Disabilities; school attendance; exclusions; and
LA provision for permanently excluded or sick children. Priority
areas of work are implementation of our Education Inclusion
Strategy and development of preventative early help for children,
young people and their families.
Resources include specialist teaching and
assessment services; Educational Psychology and Education Welfare
teams; family support; monitoring and securing compliance with
legislation and policy. The service was restructured in 2011–12
into 4 operational areas:- North and South Worcestershire Education
Inclusion Teams; Targeted Teaching Provision (based on Short Stay
Schools); and Monitoring, Assessment and Placement Services
(includes statutory assessment of SEN).
The North Area Inclusion Team operates from
bases in Redditch and Kidderminster. The South team is based at
Wildwood, Worcester.
