Ofsted Inspection for the Protection of Children

Inspection Arrangements

The information on this page is aimed at professionals, partners and practitioners employed by organisations within the Worcestershire Children's Trust and Worcestershire Safeguarding Children Board (WSCB)

We want every child and young person in Worcestershire to be safe through the excellent commissioning of safeguarding services and to reduce the number of children in care. By achieving this we will always be 'Inspection Ready'. What this site aims to do is facilitate the Inspection process by acting as a reference site for those who will work closely with Ofsted Inspectors, when they visit Worcestershire.

This page outlines the new Ofsted framework for the inspection of local authority arrangements to protect children, including the effectiveness of early identification and help for children, young people, their families and carers. This framework was published in January 2012 and updated again in April 2012.

The new inspection framework will focus on the effectiveness of the local authority’s child protection services, and the local authority’s leadership of strategic partners in their shared work to help and protect children and young people who are suffering, or likely to suffer, harm from abuse or neglect.

This Ofsted Inspection Framework can be found at the bottom of this page or on the Ofsted (External Website).

The Ofsted inspection of Safeguarding in March 2012 judged safeguarding services to be adequate. The Inspection report can be found at the bottom of this page.

Under the new Ofsted framework Worcestershire Children's Services is likely to be inspected at some stage in the coming 12 to 18 months. When the inspection takes place it will be influenced by evidence from other inspection activity, including the annual unannounced inspection of contact, referral and assessment arrangements for children.
