Corporate Information Management Unit (CIMU)
The Corporate Information Management Unit (CIMU) provides advice
and guidance to Council staff on the appropriate management of
information and records, and includes the co-ordination of the
Council's response to requests made under information legislation.
What do we do?:
Records Management
The Corporate Information Management Unit (CIMU)
offers a service to manage and store current and semi-current paper
records for business units of Worcestershire County Council.
Records are 'semi-current' when they are no longer needed on
a daily basis by the business unit, but may need to be referred to
occasionally, kept to evidence decisions, or to comply with legal
requirements.
We also provide advice, guidance and recommend
best practice on the active management of all formats of physical
and electronic records, from creation through to disposal, to
ensure the council is keeping the right information, in the right
place, for the right period of time.
Information Legislation
CIMU provides advice and guidance to staff on how information
legislation impacts the Council. This includes the
co-ordination of the Council's responses to requests for
information made under, and advises staff on compliance with,
information legislation including Freedom of Information
(FoI), Data Protection (DPA), the Environmental Information Regulations
(EIR), and the Re-use of Public Sector
Information Regulations.
