population projections
- The population of
Worcestershire is projected to increase from 566,600 in 2011 to
579,800 in 2016, an increase of 13,300.
- The projected population by
2021 is 593,800, a projected rise of 27,300, slightly less than 5%
on 2011 levels.
- Significant projected gains
are especially prevalent in the 65-plus age groups. Smaller gains
across the time-period are projected to be in the 25-34 and 50-59
age ranges.
- Projected losses are notable
in the 15-24 and 40-49 age groups.

population projections
- The 0-17 age group in Worcestershire is projected to increase
between now and 2021. By 2021 the number of 0-17 year olds in
Worcestershire is projected to be just over 120,000, a rise of
5,500 (almost 5%) on 2011 levels.

The 65+ age group is projected to increase by
over 31,000 (over 28%) between 2011 and 2021.
-
In contrast, the number of people aged 18-64
has a projected decline of almost 9,500 between 2011 and 2021,
representing a fall of almost 3%.

population projections
- The number of children aged 0-4 is projected to increase from
31,100 in 2011 to 32,800 in 2021, an rise of just over
5%.
- The 5-15 age group is projected to increase from 69,300 in 2011
to 74,600 in 2021, representing an increase of almost
8%.
- The 18-24 age group is projected to decline from 44,400 in
2011 to stand at around 36,900 in 2021, a decrease of 7,600 or just
over 17%.
- In contrast, the 75-plus and 85-plus age groups are both
projected significant increases over the 2011-21 period, with the
75-plus age group having a projected increase of 4,300 persons
(48%), and the 85-plus age group a projected increase of 1,300
(49%).
