Births and Deaths Projections for Worcestershire

The estimated and projected number of births and deaths per year in Worcestershire are presented here. The number of births and deaths from 2001-11 are taken from the ONS mid-year estimates, and the number of births and deaths for 2011-21 are taken from the ONS 2011-based population projections assumptions

  • In general the number of births in Worcestershire is currently considerably higher than the number of deaths – 6,200 births in 2010-11 compared to 5,500 deaths.
  • This is projected to narrow in the future. This is due to the aging population resulting in fewer births and a marked increase in the number of deaths per annum.
  • In the year 2020-21 there are projected to be around 6,100 births compared to 5,800 deaths.
