estimates were released in September 2012. The mid year
figures for 2001-2010 are also shown for comparison purposes,
although it is noted that these figures will be revised in March
2013 in light of the 2011 Census results.

The 2001 mid-year estimate for Malvern Hills
was an estimated 72,200. This has increased to an estimated 74,700
by 2011. This represents growth by an estimated 2,500, around
3.5%, on the 2001 figure.

In 2011 there were an estimated 18,200 people
aged 65-plus in Malvern Hills, representing over 24% of the total
Malvern Hills population. The number of children is
around 14,500, just over 19% of the population in the
district.
The number of children in Malvern Hills has
decreased by 700 over the 10-year period. The 65-plus population
has risen by 3,200, representing an increase of over 21%. The
number of people in the 18-64 age range has stayed largely
constant, with only a small increase of about 100.
