Resource Centres for Older People

Worcestershire County Council Resource Centres provide intermediate care services, specialist respite care and day opportunities for older people.

Our Centres

As an indication of our high standards of care these centres were awarded Customer Service Excellence Status in recognition of excellent service. The centres employ professional and experienced staff group from health and social care.

Our Aim

We will work in partnership with you to provide you with opportunities and time to develop or regain your abilities in everyday activities. When you have reached your full potential, we will support and enable you to make informed and realistic choices regarding your future.

• We recognise that each person using any of our services has their own needs, wishes, likes and dislikes and we will make every effort to meet these in an individual way.
  
• We encourage and welcome you to have a say in everything that affects your daily life and we will take your comments seriously.
  
• We aim to provide a warm, homely and therapeutic atmosphere. You will always be treated with courtesy and respect and be provided with a private bedroom for the duration of your stay with us.
  
• We will respect your privacy and dignity. We want you to feel secure, comfortable, and independent and have the companionship you chose.

Carers and families play an important part in your care planning and are encouraged to be involved as much as possible, according to your wishes.

We hope that your decision to use any of our services will be a positive, personal choice.

What you can expect from the intermediate care unit

We will provide an individually tailored care plan to help you achieve your goals. These could be working towards regaining your strength, confidence and independence with:

• Mobility
• Drinks and meals
• Washing dressing and bathing
• Managing in your own home
• Nursing needs
• Managing your medication

The intermediate care service is available free of charge to you for a maximum of 6 weeks. Depending on your progress and your needs, you may need less than 6 weeks.
