The government intends to publish an information economy
strategy this spring. To help develop the strategy, government are
calling for views and evidence from small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs), both technology based and otherwise.
The term ‘information economy’ is broadly defined and does not
encompass a single sector. For the purposes of this strategy, the
working description of the information economy is ‘the part of the
economy where digital technologies and information combine to drive
productivity and create new growth opportunities across the whole
economy’.

North West Malvern Consortium (comprise a group
of parishes in the North West of Worcestershire: Bayton, Mamble and
Lindridge, together with the whole of the parishes of Eastham,
Rochford, Hanley, Kyre and Bockleton), Little Witley
Parish as well as Redditch Arc (Crowle,
Feckenham, the southern part of Hanbury, Stock and Bradley Green,
and Tibberton) have been successful in securing funds to bring
faster broadband to their area. Tendering process will commence
shortly and we are hoping to select a supplier by the end of July
2012.
Above Parishes have been identified as 'hard to reach' areas. It
is expected that broadband technology will be put in place to
provide 100% coverage to the identified areas with speeds of up to
30Mbps.
