Dropped Kerbs

A vehicular access, sometimes known as a dropped kerb, is constructed where you want to allow cars access to your property.

Planning permission is required for dropped kerbs onto all classified roads (class A, B and C roads) and sometimes on unclassified roads, for example within a Conservation Area.

If you are unsure of your road's classification, please contact the Worcestershire Hub on 0845 607 2005 or your local District or Borough Council's planning department for advice.

If planning permission is required, it is the applicant's responsibility to obtain the necessary consents.

The A46 is classed as a trunk road and is the responsibility of the Highways Agency. If you require a vehicle access onto the A46 please contact the Highways Agency on 08457 50 40 30.

If you are not the owner of the property concerned, you should also approach your landlord for permission.

Vehicular accesses must only be constructed by one of the County Council's approved contractors. Applicants should be aware that all accesses will need to be inspected by the County Council, for which a non-refundable fee of £100 will be payable. This fee covers the cost of the site inspections and the licence only.

Please note that the applicant is solely responsible for all costs associated with construction of the access.

Yes, planning permission is required   |   No, planning permission is not required
