Housing Housing

The Research and Intelligence Unit is involved in a variety of work involving the collation and analysis of housing data both at a county and regional level to support the evaluation and development of policy and strategy. This section gives an overview of our work and includes a variety of reports and data which you may find useful.

Housing Data

In the data section, you will find a range of links to topical local level housing data, including up-to-date house prices and data on housing type and tenure from the 2001 Census.

South Housing Market Assessment

This is a strategic housing needs assessment for the South Housing Market Area; a sub-region of the West Midlands. It analyses various data and trends to procude an understanding of the local housing markets and affordability issues within the sub-region. It aims to provide technical and policy advice for Local Housing Strategies and Local Development Documents for all eight of the South Housing Market Area Partnership authorities.

Also included within this section is the Gypsy Traveller and Accomodation Assessment, which has been produced to assess the housing needs of gypsies and travellers across the South Housing Market Area.

South Worcestershire Housing Needs Assessment

Housing Needs Report commissioned by the three South Worcestershire Districts, Malvern Hills, Worcester City and Wychavon to assess the local housing needs to inform the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy (SW JCS).

West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy Annual Monitoring Report

The unit produces the annual housing supply monitoring report on behalf of the West Midlands Local Government Association.  This report examines the progress of authorities across the region in achieving targets set within national and regional planning policies.

West Midlands Housing Market Summary

This report is a detailed analysis of housing supply based upon the 2005 West Midlands Regional Residential Land Availability Survey, which contributes to the substantive evidence base for the Communities for the Future chapter of the 2005 RSS Annual Monitoring Report. It is also an assessment of the key factors influencing housing demand including people’s aspirations about where they want to live and the nature of housing affordability across the Region.

Deprivation

The Research and Intelligence Unit has conducted in-depth analysis on the findings from the English Indices of Deprivation 2004 (ID 2004) for Worcestershire.
