Do you worry about what will happen if for some reason you can’t get home – who will know that there’s someone at home depending on you to return?
The Carers’ emergency alert card is a way of recording important information, so that, in the event of an emergency, the person who depends on a carer will be looked after.

The idea of this scheme is to make sure that it is much easier to identify carers if they are involved in some sort of accident or emergency.
We hope the card will provide carers with some peace of mind, and we want as many people as possible to know about the ways in which it can help.
Anyone who registers for a carers’ emergency alert card has to fill in a form that contains important information and contact details of people who can help. The form will also require details of any medical conditions, special circumstances and instructions.
Once the form is completed, carers are issued with a laminated card with a registration number on it. Information on the carer and their dependants is then stored on a database that can be accessed in the event of an emergency.
The database of information is managed by Redditch Lifeline. It is free of charge and emergency cover is available 24 hours a day.
ImageWe want to encourage as many people as possible to sign up for these cards. The idea is to carry them with you at all times in a place that is easy to find.
It is also really important that once a carer has registered their details they let us know if anything changes.
If you already have a card issued by the Worcestershire Association of Carers, there is no need to do anything more; you don’t need 2 cards.
You may also be interested in the emergency Information Scheme - DATALINK. This involves storing your emergency details in a plastic container kept in the fridge. Labels are then displayed on your front door and fridge door so that if the emergency services have to come to the house, they know where to find the important information to help them deal with the situation.
