Many people living in Worcestershire are unaware that their hearing impairment can be registered by specialist workers in Worcestershire Adult and Community Services, Sensory Impairment Team. Anyone with a significant hearing loss, whether registered or not, is eligible for a service from the Adult and Community Services Directorate, which has a legal duty to keep an up-to-date register of hearing impaired children and adults in the county. You can ask to be registered by contacting the Adult and Community Services Contact Centre (see leaflet for details) or your nearest Customer Centre (see separate leaflet for details).
The Sensory Impairment Team provides a wide range of specialist information and undertakes assessment of need by specialist social workers. Relevant services or appropriate equipment may be provided, subject to Social Care Services eligibility and financial criteria. To request an assessment contact the Adult and Community Services Contact Centre (Contact details on separate leaflet).
