The Way We Workgrass sculpture |
Bishops Wood Centre aims to provide experiential educational and training programmes that involve first hand contact with the natural world. We aim to help people of all ages to examine their own lives and make links between social and economic issues. This will be considered in the context of ecological systems and human impact on the natural world. Through providing skills we aim to empower people to participate in a sustainable society and demonstrate best practice in sustainable management of the buildings, site, staff and visitors.
Visiongrass sculpture |
A centre which demonstrates best practice in sustainability and education, working with schools, local communities and a range of partners to educate for a sustainable future, the communities of Worcestershire, West Midlands and beyond. The buildings will be energy and water efficient and use materials from sustainable sources. The site will be managed as a sustainable woodland and other habitats with opportunities for the local community to become involved in managing the site, process the woodland products, growing food. We will have quality management systems in place to ensure that all our services are delivered well. While education programmes for schools remain at the core of our work we also have a role to play in providing education for a sustainable future for early years settings, opinion formers, businesses, further and higher education institutes and the wider community. We will do this directly when appropriate and indirectly by working with partners locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
