Appeal for flooding stories
Many residents and businesses from across Worcestershire are currently rebuilding their lives following the floods that devastated the county in July. We are seeking stories from anyone who would like to leave their experiences for posterity. We are also on the look-out for images that capture the effect the floods have had on the county and its people. Paul Hudson, Head of Worcestershire History Centre, said: “The most recent floods have been a significant moment, and we know that people in the future will want to know about it, just like they do about 1947 and other occasions. “As well as the official accounts, we would like to record the stories of some of the ‘ordinary’ residents while they are still fresh in the mind.” The stories and images will be kept and made available for future residents. The County Council’s Record Office preserves and promotes 900 years of Worcestershire’s documentary history, which includes information about previous floods. You can send your story to floodstories@worcestershire.gov.uk. By sending your story, you are agreeing for it to be kept in the Record Office and publicly available in the future. If you have images please email us initially at the address above to discuss the format and arrangements for sending them. Thank you for your help. Page Information:
