School Packs - Web links

  1. to web-based resources for archaeology, quarrying, geography and history
  2. to historic and modern maps and aerial photographs of Worcestershire

1 - Web-based learning resources

2 - Web-based maps

  • http://worcestershire.whub.org.uk/home/wcc-arch-tithe-maps.htm - for information about historic maps of parishes in Worcestershire.
  • http://www.pastscape.org - Pastscape is a national database providing historic and modern maps on which specific archaeological sites and monuments can be located. The main link gives the options of a TEXT SEARCH or a FUN SEARCH and starts the navigation to the map and photographic database. It is a very useful resource for local map information because it allows the student to click for text, map or aerial photographs at different scales. The web site is interlinked with:
Multi-map: http://www.multimap.com - a map database complimenting geographical and historical information – just click and zoom
  • Old maps :  http://www.old-maps.co.uk
  • Aerial Photography: for example, Evesham, the nearest town to the early farming settlement at Kemerton, can be viewed aerially at: www.multimap.com/map/evesham-aerial from a scale of 1:5,000 up to, (as with this web link), 1:200,000
  • An aerial photograph overlaid with a map (by cursor movement) at:
    http://www.multimap.com/map/kemerton
