Trish Haines became Chief Executive of Worcestershire County Council in March 2008. Prior to that, she was Chief Executive of Reading Borough Council since 2002 and during her time there was Director of the Thames Valley Economic Partnership and a member of the National Neighbourhood Policing Board, reflecting her focus on economic development and urban renaissance in Reading, and on Safer Communities for local people. Trish is Senior Vice President of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and represents local authorities in a range of work with government departments. She becomes President of Solace in July 2008, and her theme for the year will be ‘Prosperity, People and Places.’ Trish’s background is in social care, and her career has included a variety of management posts in Berkshire, Suffolk, Warwickshire and Hereford and Worcester County Council, specialising in organisational development and management of change in Social Services. During this time Trish was awarded an MBA from Henley Management College, building on her first-class honours degree from Bradford University. The Lord Lieutenant, Mr Michael Brinton, is Chairman of the family carpet firm of Brintons Ltd in Kidderminster. Mr Brinton is well known and active in the county and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 1991. He was also President of the British Carpet Manufacturers’ Association Export Council from 1998 until 2000.
