Results 2003/04

The Reassessment for 2003/04 is now known, and Worcestershire has retained the "Good" rating it was awarded this time last year in the first round of Comprehensive Performance Assessments for all top-tier authorities.

Our Chief Executive Rob Sykes said: "We are delighted that the Audit Commission has judged that we are good and continuing to improve"

Scores from 0-4 are given for Education, Social Services (both Adult and Children's services), Environment, Culture and use of resources.  While the great progress in social care for adults has been recognised by the refreshed CPA score (two to three), the graph gives the impression there have been no improvements in other service areas.

Diane Tilley, our Head of Chief Executive's Unit, said: "It's proper that the dedication and hard work of Social Services has been recognised by the Audit Commission and Jennie and her team deserve all the credit that comes their way.  But there have been great strides made in further improving the performance of this council right across the board, and it's unfortunate that this isn't represented in our graph."

Diane added: "While we must acknowledge that CPA is a national benchmark, a more accurate picture of efforts can be gained by looking at monitoring reports of our Corporate Plan.  This shows that we are on course to achieve 95% of the targets.  These are the kind of figures that pay proper testament to everyone in the County Council."

There are 150 top-tier authorities in the country and after thorough assessment these were categorised into five different ratings on December 12 last year The ratings were Excellent, Good, Fair, Weak and Poor.
