Welcome to Worcestershire Youth Music
Worcestershire Youth Music has been in existence in some form within the Local Authority for over fifty years and has an established reputation for the high quality of its tuition and performance activities.
 |
Opportunities for instrumental and vocal tuition are availabe in schools and music centres throughout the County and we are currently developing our successful whole class, inclusive Wider Opportunities pilots into “Play2learn”, a fully-fledged scheme designed to increase the numbers of young people learning instruments. |
We provide the following services: - Instrumental and Vocal Teaching – contacting over 9,000 pupils each week plus a growing number of Wider Opportunities projects
- Concerts for Schools – introducing primary school pupils to the exciting sound of live music
- County Music Groups – over 53 ensembles in 6 Area Music Centres and centrally in Worcester involving nearly 1,000 young musicians in large group and chamber music performance
- Instrument Hire – a substantial stock of quality instruments, available for WYM pupils to hire at special low rates
- Residential and One-Day Courses – summer term residential courses for String, Woodwind and Brass players and one-day elementary courses for beginners
- Competitions and Tours – groups represent Worcestershire in local and national competitions – and at least one senior group tours abroad each summer (recent trips include visits to South Africa, Iceland, Italy, Spain and Chicago!)
