Worcestershire Schools Forum (WSF)

Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the web site of the Worcestershire Schools Forum (WSF) and thank you for visiting. Please take some time to browse and study the information contained within the site.

Given the increasing complexities and changes to the national and local funding systems for schools and the Local Authority (LA) the information on the site will continue to be revised and updated to ensure it provides the necessary information on the most up to date issues relating to school funding.

The WSF have endeavoured to bring together in one place the key aspects of its workings together with details of the national framework within which it has to operate.

We hope you find the web site useful and if you have any queries or suggestions for the site then please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of the key contacts listed below.

With Very Best Wishes,

All Members of the WSF

Introduction

There has been a requirement since January 2003 for LA’s to establish a Schools Forum for their area. The framework for their constitution and workings are set in Government Statutory Instrument and Regulations from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

Our website provides details on the key aspects via the relevant links as follows: -

DCSF regulatory Issues
Legal Framework
LA Networks
School Funding Consultations
Useful Website Links
WCC Reports
WSF Framework
WSF Meetings
WSF Sub Groups
Classroom

In essence the setting up of Schools Forums became mandatory for all LA’s to enable key local discussion on School Funding matters between a LA and its schools. This has evolved since their introduction and now Schools Forums have specific remits and decision-making powers on local issues contained within the legal framework.

The key functions of Forum set in statute and are the requirement for consultation on the school funding formula, contracts and financial issues. Details of this very wide ranging and increasing brief are detailed within the relevant sections on the web site.
