IPTS - Best Practice Reports

Integrated Passenger Transport Strategy - Best Practice Reports

The Integrated Transport Unit has complied 12 Best Practice Reports to identify processes and guidance appropriate for inclusion in the Worcestershire Integrated Passenger Transport Strategy. These have been assembled using experience drawn from around the UK and elsewhere.

This is an essential stage in the planning process and we are seeking direct stakeholder input to ensure these reports are appropriate and robust for the County.  We are keen to encourage interaction between relevant participants, as we believe this will help build a sense of common purpose and ambition for transport in Worcestershire and ensure the highest quality of outcome.

To facilitate this, we have identified over 100 key stakeholders that will be involved in the main consultation process that involves running two workshops twice to enable maximum participation.  The first session will take place on 6th and 7th November 2007 and the second session on 28th November and 29th November 2007.

Workshop One - 6th & 7th November 2007

The first workshop session will provide background to the process and give you the opportunity to consider 6 Best Practice reports in detail.  These are:

  • Passenger Transport Bus Priority Measures (e.g. bus lanes, signalling)
  • Passenger Transport Infrastructure (e.g. bus stops, bus and rail stations and interchanges)
  • Passenger Transport Elements of Land Use and Development Control
  • Passenger Transport Accessibility
  • Passenger Transport Consultation
  • Traffic Management and Parking for Passenger Transport

Following both workshops, a detailed report of the outcomes will be available early in the New Year.

We are sure the importance of developing a new transport strategy will be recognised, in that it embraces the views of all groups and interests within and beyond the County.  To enable your full participation, the reports for the first session are now available on this web page for your information.  Before each workshop session, it is recommended that all attendees have a chance to familiarise themselves with either the Executive Summaries or the full reports if appropriate.

We look forward to your participation.  If you are not attending the Workshops please forward your comments to:
