Vehicles

The evening services are provided by three 7 seater Volkswagen taxibus, fitted out to the modern Eurocab Taxibus style, offering comfort and easy access for up to seven passengers.

There is wide door low step access, and the vehicles are fitted with ramps to enable wheelchair access. Three CCTV cameras on board each of the three vehicles offer passengers security and peace of mind.

In addition a 13 seater Rohill vehicle is used, which also offers wide door low step access with a ramp to enable wheelchair access.

Booking

There is no need to book in advance, the vehicles will stop and pick up passengers at the regular bus stops along the route used by daytime services run by a commercial bus operator.

The Taxibus scheme is operated by a leading local taxi operator, A Touch of Class, on behalf of Worcestershire County Council and Redditch Borough Council, and is funded from the Urban Bus Challenge 2003 Department for Transport Grant.

A Taxibus running a timetabled evening bus service along a fixed route is a first for Redditch and for the county. This is one of very few Taxibus schemes that offer a timetabled bus service in an urban area.
