For a map of how to get to the Library
Droitwich Spa Library is housed in an attractive, spacious building in a central location. As a branch of Worcestershire County Libraries, it provides a wide range of services.
The adult lending library is on the ground and the first floors of the building, with a selection of fiction and non-fiction on a variety of subjects. The whole County Library's resources are available through the request service. There is a small reference collection, including local telephone directories, Yellow Pages and Ordnance Survey maps. A limited amount of local history material is kept. Daily and weekly newspapers and some periodicals are taken, with back copies of magazines for borrowing. Public Internet access is available free of charge, and includes access to a wide range of Community Information via the Worcestershire Hub.
Library staff are available to help with general information as well as book and library-related enquiries. Other public services include a coin-operated photocopier, fax facilities, and a Jobcentre Jobpoint terminal.
Most of the audio-visual material is on the ground floor, with music on CD, talking books on cassette and CD, and films on DVD. Multimedia language courses can be found with the modern foreign language books on the first floor.
We are happy to welcome groups to visit the library for a tour and talk, or can arrange for staff to visit societies, clubs and other organisations to talk about library services.
The Children's Library is on the ground floor and is designed to be a welcoming area for all ages, from babies to young teens. A wide variety of books is available for all reading ages and stages, including the full range of subjects to help with homework and hobbies. Children's talking books are available on cassette and CD, plus children's films on DVD.
Children's Activities:Storytime is held each Monday during term-time from 2 - 2.30pm, for 3 - 5 year olds. Rhymetime sessions for babies and todders are held on alternate Wednesdays. During the school holidays other activities may be arranged; please check before each holiday for details. Places for all activiities are limited, and charges may apply for special events.
Visits to early years settings and schools are offered and groups are welcome to visit the library by arrangement. Childminders and early years settings are eligible for special book collections; please contact the library for further details.
Droitwich Readers Group meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 6.30 pm. It is an informal group for people who enjoy reading and want to share their enjoyment through discussion with other readers, but also want to widen their reading experience and choices. It is free to join, but because of its popularity, there are no places available at the moment. If you would like further information, please contact the library manager.
On the first floor of the library is the multi-purpose Gallery exhibition room of
approx. 780 sq. ft. in which a varied programme of arts and crafts exhibitions take place. The 26 metres
of hanging space, and the adjustable tracked lighting gives an attractive area for displaying both the
work of local artists and of touring displays. Exhibition programme.
