Winner of Valentine Poetry Competition at Redditch Library
Dewy eyed lovers
Roses as red as wine
Promises of forever
Cards that read "be mine".
The prime time for trust
Commitment and love
Love send us higher
Than wings of a dove.
Sugar dipped kisses
Soar higher than the skies
Being in love
Oh how your heart flies.
New and old romance
Buds in bloom
Too big to contain
In the space of one room
Spring's in the air
All around is new life
How perfect an occasion
To gain a new husband or wife
Valentine's Day
What more can I say?
Just cherish the ones you love
In each and every way.

This year National Poetry Day will be celebrated on Thursday October 9th and the theme will be:
"Work"
I used to be useful
playing my part,
being of service and
earning my keep,
but rising so early
and rushing about,
having no 'me' time
or afternoon sleep,
it's all a bit tiring.
My feet get so sore.
I feel sick of smiling.
I need more time out.
But then without work
I would miss my friends.
My colleages, my work mates
I can't do without.
So I'll work a bit longer.
No retirement for me
It's clear that they need me
'cause I make the tea.
