Councils have been leading their communities for decades, but the role has now been formally recognised as a Community Leadership Service.
The service brings together some key departments and co-ordinates our work on the ground with our strategic plans and goals.
Our Community Leadership and Engagement Framework includes important details about how we work, and how we plan to develop our work, with local communities.
The departments in Community Leadership are:
Supporting councillors to engage with local people.
Protecting our community and safeguarding our welfare.
Helping people to know about our work and access our services.
Gathering, analysing and sharing vital local facts to improve services.
Working with community groups to provide services at local level.
Bringing local authorities, businesses and key organisations together.
A broader explanation of community leadership explains how democracy, partnership and local people’s sense of ownership are vital parts of a successful community.
“I have a clear brief to build on existing good work in this area. Extending the County Council’s engagement with the community is a key priority.”
