As part of the Northwick Manor Community
Heritage Project there are a number of workshops being run to guide people in researching local history,
focusing particularly on the Northwick and Claines parts of Worcester. This particular workshop will
focus on maps that are available and the Historic Environment Record.

Midland Journey

In advance of a major project between Worcestershire Record Office and the
Media Archive for Central England, there is an opportunity to see Worcestershire films at The Swan Theatre.
Worcester Live and MACE present a chance to see rare archive film of Worcestershire from the collection
of the Media Archive for Central England. As the public sector film archive for the Midands, MACE is
in a unique position to showcase rare images from the county spotlighting the people and places, industry
and social life and best of all the characters and times long since consigned to history but by the
magic of film preserved for ever.
Look out for details of events round Worcestershire
in the autumn of digitised films from the collections of Worcestershire Record Office and MACE.

1st National Memorial for the Abolition of Slavery
Saturday
23rd August, from 2pm onwards, City Centre Community Centre, Midland Road, Worcester
A
free family event will be held to celebrate the 1st National Memorial for the Abolition of Slavery.
Worcestershire Record Office will be joining West Mercia Constabulary, Worcestershire Active Inclusive
Forum, Worcestershire County Libraries, and Hereford & Worcester Fire Service for this event, with
our new Black Presence in Worcestershire exhibition and oral history extracts to listen to. The day
will also include entertainment from Drumlove (featuring visiting players from Gambia), dancing by Capoeira
Dance, an exhibition on the history of slavery, henna and face painting, and food from around will be
available.
