Outreach

Group Visits

The Worcestershire Record Office (WRO) welcomes visits from any interested groups. For example, in the past we have accommodated family and local history societies. We are also happy to accommodate small groups of school or higher education students and teachers.

However, it is essential that all visits are booked in advanced and arranged with one of the archivists.

Talks

We are able to go out to interested groups and give talks on a variety of subjects relating to the work of the Record Office, family history, local history and specific resources or types of documents. These are very popular, and we enjoy going out to let people know about the many fascinating sources that we hold. A list of talks we currently give can be found below.

If you would like someone to come and give a talk, please contact Paul Hudson to discuss your requirements and details. You can contact him on 01905 765922 or phudson2@worcestershire.gov.uk.

Whilst we try to fit in with your programme and preferences, we cannot always meet your exact needs. We are restricted in the number of talks that we can give and we have commitments that restrict when we can provide talks. Please give us at least 2 months notice, and even longer if possible. This will then increase the chances of finding a convenient date.

Charges
We do not have a set charge talks, but usually ask for a similar fee to what your group or society would normally pay a speaker. This is often around £25. We can discuss this when you contact us.

Subjects

The usual talk that we give is an introduction to the work of the Record Office, which can be given by most members of staff who give talks.

Some archivists also have more specialised subjects that they can talk on.  However since they are prepared and delivered by individuals this will depend on that person’s availability.
