Welcome to the
Worcestershire Green Directory

The Worcestershire Green Directory is a free resource packed full of handy tips and useful contacts to make it easier for you to live a greener lifestyle that will have a positive impact on your finances, your health and your well-being.

Where possible the businesses listed in the directory are based in Worcestershire so not only will you be helping save the planet but you will also be supporting Worcestershire's economy.

Why not try 'Growing Your Own'?

Growing your own vegetables is easy to get into and can be great fun.

But not only that, home grown vegetables are fresh and full of nutrients, and you know exactly what has been used to grow them, so no chemical fertilisers or pesticides. And better still because they haven't been transported miles and miles they don't use as much CO2 so they are much better for the environment and less food travelling around the country means less traffic!

If you fancy having a go then follow this link to the 'Grow Your Own' pages, with lots of advice for beginners through to seasoned growers.

What are the issues?

It's becoming increasingly clear that human emissions of greenhouse gases such as Carbon Dioxide have caused global temperatures to rise.

The average Worcestershire household releases 6 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year in using energy to provide heat, light & power.

If everyone on the planet lived as we do in Worcestershire, we would need 3 planets to support us all!

We have already seen hotter drier summers and an increase in the length of growing seasons, coupled with storms and floods throughout the county.

Visit the webpages on Climate Change in Worcestershire to find out more about the expected impacts and work in the county to address the issue.

Luckily there are plenty of pain-free ways we can all help to reduce our impact on the planet- find out how here!
