All organisations and businesses produce different types of waste. Much of this ends up in landfill, giving off methane and CO2 (greenhouse gases) as it breaks down. Energy is also used in waste disposal, particularly transportation. Producing goods from recycled materials generally uses less energy than producing them from raw materials.
