Worcestershire Trading Standards Service is a division of Worcestershire County Council’s Environmental Services Directorate.
The Trading Standards Service is responsible for enforcing legislation that covers the safety of products for the consumer market, weights and measures, fair trading and food. The Service is also involved in maintaining standards of animal welfare for livestock and for enforcing measures to prevent the spread of animal disease in farm animals.
If you are a consumer, we can advise you how to go about dealing with a complaint for yourself and how to take a small claim in the County Court. Depending on the nature of the complaint, we may investigate to determine whether there has been a breach of consumer legislation and take appropriate action.
If you are a business, we can give advice and information to help ensure you comply with consumer legislation. We sometimes carry out visits to business premises to check the goods and services being sold to assist us in this duty.(What you can expect when we visit your premises.) We are also able to check on weighing and measuring equipment and offer a weight adjustment service.
In order to assist both consumers and businesses, we produce and supply a range of free information leaflets which can be obtained from this website. Please follow the links on the left hand side menu.
