The Ceramic Research Centre was
formed in November 2002 to promote and develop research into archaeological collections in Worcestershire
and the Midlands region.

Ceramic Research Centre is a partnership between Worcestershire County Council Historic Environment
and Archaeology Service and the
University of Worcester
The
work we
are now undertaking is based on 30 years research in this county including:-
- the development of a pottery fabric series for pottery from the Neolithic
to the 19th century
- the publication of important consumer sites
- the publication of research into production sites
- programmes of thin section work over 30 years
The Aims of the Ceramic Research Centre

- To creating research resources for students and specialists
- To promote the study of local and regional collections
- To develop skills within the region
Goals
1. Research
- Continue to develop the on-line fabric and form series as the basis for consistent recording across the county (www.worcestershireceramics.org)
- Act as a focus and resource centre for researchers working within the region

Teaching- Contribute to the teaching of Archaeology at UCW by providing
expertise
and material for undergraduate studies
- Provide training and guidance for ceramic researchers working within the region
- Set up a ceramic workshop for National Archaeology Day
3. Promotion of Ceramic Studies
- Produce a bibliography of site-based and synthetic reports on the ceramics
of the county for the Web
- Publicise the CRC as a host for specialist conferences
