THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF AGGREGATE SITES IN WORCESTERSHIRE

Events and Displays - Archived Community Event

Top Barn Farm, Holt – September 2006

As part of Unlocking the Past’s Outreach programme WHEAS is holding a series of exhibitions at different county locations. The travelling displays of reconstruction drawings and artefacts depict prehistoric, Roman and Saxon scenes derived from sand and gravel landscapes along the Severn, Avon and Carrant Valleys of Worcestershire. The Top Barn Farm event at Holt, featured information about the nearby Bronze Age burial sites excavated in the 1970s in advance of mineral extraction by the Ball Mill quarry group (now Tarmac).

The outdoor event, which was organised as a Heritage Open Day attracted 400 people who took part in flint knapping, Roman domestic crafts and cooking, and in archery workshops.
