Worcestershire planning authorities make a pledge for biodiversity

Bromsgrove, Malvern Hills and Wyre Forest District Councils have become the latest planning authorities within the West Midlands to sign up to the Biodiversity Pledge, demonstrating their commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities under the Natural Environment and Rural Communities (NERC) Act (2006). The pledge made by the three authorities was recognised in April at the West Midlands Biodiversity Partnership Annual Conference.

Wildlife and Countryside Link - 3rd report published on progress towards the Countdown 2010 commitments

In January 2006, Wildlife and Countryside Link published a challenge to Government by setting out what they thought the Countdown 2010 biodiversity commitment meant and how progress should be measured. They agreed to look at progress on an annual basis and to highlight successes or failures. Orchards in Kemerton receive a funding boost

Feb 2009

With help from the Worcestershire Biodiversity Partnership, the Kemerton Conservation Trust have secured just under £20,000 in grant funding for restoration and survey work in several important local orchards. The project will be undertaken as part of a Countdown 2010 initiative, co-ordinated by the National Trust, to restore and protect orchards across the country. The work begins now and will continue for the next two years.
