Forhill Picnic Place

A small woody copse, open grassy areas and hilltop views of the wider countryside, are some of what this site has to offer. Look out for the area of rough grass where wild flowers and butterflies can be found in spring and summer; Purple Self Heal, Red Clover and Yellow Vetch all bringing an extra splash of colour to the site. There is also an ancient hedge laid in centuries old craftsman style.

Ryckneild Street, one of oldest known roads in Britain, runs down into Worcestershire from here. The high banks on either side of the road are a clue to its ancient origins. It was an important route used by Iron Age Celts and possibly by Cro-Magnon man some 4000 years ago.

Forhill is a good starting point for varied walks, including the North Worcestershire Path, which passes through the site. Or perhaps you prefer to stay within the picnic place. Large open grassy areas are great for ball games, shelter under an old oak allows for a cool quiet resting place, and picnic tables all around the site give you a choice of views as you enjoy your lunch.
