The historic listed building of the old King Charles Grammar School provides a stately
setting for couples getting married at Kidderminster Registration Office.
The
impressive ceremony room stands about 30 feet high with a beamed and vaulted oak ceiling. The walls
are oak panelled and the room is lit by its many stone-mullioned high arched windows. The party enters
through the canopied porch of the old stone building with its buttresses and castellated tower. Wide
double doors lead into a large, airy assembly room where guests can meet prior to the ceremony.
More
wide double doors lead into the fully carpeted marriage room with seating for 70 guests arranged so
that the bridal party can walk up a central aisle from the Registrar's Office.
The
historic features of the building - the oak panelling, wide heavy wooden double doors leading through
an arched stone doorway, the large stone flagged porch and outside a landscaped area of grass, trees
and shrubs, all offer a wonderful backdrop for photographs. Attractively situated in a suburban setting
on the Bewdley side of the town, Kidderminster Registration Office is served by a convenient network
of roads allowing easy access from the Wyre Forest area and the West Midlands and Welsh Marches.
