Centre Tours

Centre tours are available for organised groups to visit the Centre and find out more about what goes on.

This is an opportunity to see this exciting and award winning building.  The Bishops Wood Centre is housed in a purpose built building designed as a “Three Dimensional Textbook” for environmental issues in building.  The materials used in the construction of the building were chosen because of the minimal environmental impact during their production, processing transport and working life.

The tour lasts approximately two hours and will include:

• Guided tour of the building
• The reed beds sewage treatment system
• Refreshments and informal questions on the design, history of the project and aspects of running the Centre and use of the building
• Opportunity to examine the comprehensive resource library on environmental building and materials, including detailed documentation on the design of Bishops Wood
• A chance to view the video  “A Message for Tomorrow”, the story of how the building was conceived and how the funding was secured
• Or a chance to explore the 39 hectare site with demonstration gardens, willow sculptures and a wide range of other features for environmental education

Charges

Cost of tours and talks range from £5.00 to £7.50 per head, depending on numbers and content of visit. There is a minimum charge of £50.00 for a visit to the Centre.

Fair trade tea and coffee will be served free of charge, but  a voluntary donation to Friends of Bishops Wood is always appreciated.

We can arrange a buffet if required using locally sourced and organic produce where possible. This is available at £7.50 per head.
