Training opportunities

Training opportunties are vital to continue providing quality childcare in the future. Worcestershire County Council's Early Years and Childcare Service is committed to raising the quality of early years and childcare through equal access to training programmes at all levels.

You can also learn more about types of qualifications and training as well as career paths available.  If you are unsure about what career path you want to take, you can view our interested in working with children, young people and their families page.

Training Programme and our Training Directory

The Early Years and Childcare Service provide training and subsidise some short courses.  You can view and book our training online or alternatively, you can download the latest Training Update This is a link to a PDF file. (1.69 MB), which also contains a booking form.  We also produce an Information for Providers folder This is a link to a PDF file. (3.18 MB) which provides information on Training Providers and the programmes of early education, childcare and playwork, available to people in Worcestershire.

Funding for qualifications

Funding is currently available to support those wishing to undertake a course leading to a qualification on the National Qualifications Framework.  Transformation Funding is available for those wishing to gain a Level 3-5 qualification and training for working with children with disabilities, special educational needs or additional needs. A Qualification Application Funding Form This is a link to a PDF file. (30.30 KB) is available to print out and send to us.

From 2015 all full day care settings (children’s centres from 2010) will be required to have an early years professional in post.  This is a status, not a qualification, and can be gained by those with a relevant existing degree or Early Years Foundation Degree.  Full day-care settings that are eligible may apply for Recruitment Incentive, Quality Premium or Home Grown Graduate Incentive.

For more information on funding for qualifications and to check if you qualify, please call the Training Officers on 01905 790578/9.

For more information on Transformation Funding, please contact Debbie English on 01905 790550 or e-mail denglish@worcestershire.gov.uk
