Are you a parent or carer wishing to contact the Learning Support Team?

Over 91% of schools in Worcestershire use our service to help support pupils with special educational needs. We are one of several specialist services in Children’s Services. If you are not sure about how Worcestershire Children’s Services is organized, it may be helpful to contact the Parent Partnership Service in the first instance. They also provide useful information on how to access support for your child, as set out in the SEN Code of Practice.

We work in close cooperation with the Parent Partnership Service, who may be able to supply the information required regarding pupils with SEN or direct any enquiries to the appropriate service. They will also pass on any specialist requests to us where appropriate. We will contact the parents or carers concerned. If you wish to contact the Parent Partnership team:

Is your child receiving support at school from our service?

A member of the Learning Support Team who is assigned to work in the school may have already made contact or offered you an opportunity contact them and discuss any concerns or explain the support being offered.

Events and Training

The Learning Support Team regularly offers training opportunities for parents and carers. This is usually in liaison with other service providers such as Parent Partnership or Foster Carers.

In 2007 and 2008 there have been conferences for parents on Dyslexia and Learning Styles.  Schools also organise local meetings and events for parents and some of these involve our staff.  Whilst usually aimed at professionals, some of our larger conferences may be appropriate for parents; many of them provide useful and practical information on a specific learning difficulty and that might be of interest, if it is related to your child’s particular needs.
