Powick Bridge Refurbishment

Objective

Refurbishment and waterproofing of the bridge in order to maintain its overall structural integrity.

Why Close the Road?

The width of the road and footways over the bridge are insufficient to allow the necessary work to be undertaken whilst maintaining single lane traffic flow. Health and safety regulations relating to safe working distances would require a greater working width than available.

However, in order to minimise the duration of the complete closure and thus minimise disruption to the travelling public, work to temporarily re-route the major utility services has been undertaken in advance. Single lane traffic flow over the bridge, controlled by temporary traffic signals, will be maintained during the advanced work.
