The County Council provides an established Corporate GIS service and Internet GIS presence. We are now looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person for this exciting role within the council’s Development Team. The GIS Analyst/Programmer role covers the following areas:
- Web and client based GIS application development using the latest Microsoft/ESRI technologies.
- Seeing directorate projects from start to finish; development of new initiatives / online mapping services.
- Supporting GIS customers and maintaining GIS hardware/software and the central spatial database.
Experience in the following areas are an essential requirement: MS Office, Web/Client Application Development using Microsoft .Net Framework, SQL Server 2005 and project management.
Experience in the following software would be an advantage – ArcGIS Server Web ADF, ArcGIS Server JavaScript API, ArcSDE, ArcView, Visual Studio .net IDE (2005/2008) and PRINCE2.
You should have the ability to manage short-term projects within the overall IBS development strategy.

As The TaMHS Learning Mentor you will work directly with children /young people in educational settings including Pupil Referral Units, in order to promote learning and achievement and strengthen and develop the potential of children/young people who are engaged in assessment and intervention for behaviour difficulties through the TaMHS Behaviour Assessment Pathway.

Pollution Control Technician

Worcestershire County Council manages nine closed landfill sites across the County through the work of its small Pollution Control Team. We are looking to recruit a person with some experience in a related field to join the team in the post of Technician. This post holder’s duties will include being responsible for the daily monitoring of the sites, which will include monitoring for landfill gas, leachate and surface/groundwaters. They will inspect the sites and assess the possibility of environmental pollution, reporting the results to the Pollution Control Manager. They will also be responsible for ensuring all monitoring equipment and facilities are maintained and calibrated regularly. This post requires outdoor working, and the ability to travel throughout the county for which a casual car user allowance is payable.
The successful candidate will be educated to “A” level or equivalent standard, and have a good working knowledge of computer spreadsheets and databases. They will need to be self motivated and able to work with a minimum of supervision. If you have excellent organisational and communication skills, and a real interest in preventing pollution incidents, then this could be the opportunity for you. The start date for this post will be the week beginning the 14th September 2009.

We offer every student a tailored programme of education, mobility and Independent Living Skills to support them in reaching their full potential, both in and beyond the classroom. Alongside teachers we have a team of committed and qualified Care Staff who look after our students and ensure that their academic and social development continues in the residential setting in the evenings and at weekends.
We are seeking to employ enthusiastic people to provide a high standard of care to students at the college. The Waking Night Staff will be expected to stay awake throughout the shift, to maintain an environment that allows students to sleep peacefully and / or study effectively and to administer medication to students as required. A relevant child care qualification is desirable; however, the college is committed to training all Care Staff up to at least NVQ Level 3.
