Hartlebury Castle - Home of Worcestershire County Museum

Copy of Print of Facade with Carriage ll - John Smith 1784

A print of how the castle appeared in the 18th century. The land at Hartlebury has been a possession of the bishops of Worcester since 854 AD.  It is known that bishops have resided here since the 1200s. The present bishop still lives in the south wing (to the left) and the County Museum is in the north wing (to the right). The middle range is taken up by the State Rooms - Great Hall, Saloon and the Hurd Library the first two of which are accessible from the Museum throughout the Museum's opening season  To view the Hurd Library please contact the Museum to make an appointment with a member of staff.
