Quantry Lane, Romsley, Nr Bromsgrove.

Quantry Lane Landfill Site

Quantry Lane is a dilute and disperse landfill site in that it has no engineered base or liner. Prior to tipping it was used as a sand and gravel quarry. It was tipped between 1987 - 1988 with domestic and non-hazardous commercial wastes. The waste volume is approximately 55,500m3 and covers an area of 1.85 hectares. The average depth of the waste is 3 metres with a maximum of 6 metres.

The site was restored with 2 metres of clay cap and 100mm of topsoil.

The site has eleven internal and 3 external monitors that are monitored for landfill gas, leachate and ground water.

Gas levels on the perimeter of the site are consistently low. The site is currently used for grazing horses.
